New city council members Henry D’Angela, Mike De Divitiis, and Tim O’Hare were sworn into office at the meeting.

Councillors returning for the 2022 — 2026 term were also sworn in, including councillors Carmen DeRose, David (Jim) Handley, Anthony Longo, and Ken Sentance.
Councillor Nella Dekker was also re-elected and sworn in as a council member, where she will serve at the only female councillor.
During his inaugural address for this term in office, Ugulini emphasized how well he believes Thorold is suited to handle many issues throughout the next four years.
“The City of Thorold is well-positioned to lead Niagara out of the pandemic and any economic uncertainty that lies ahead,” said Ugulini. “Truthfully, we are the hub in the Niagara Region in our economic development. Business retention and expansion strategy is starting to pay the expected dividends like good paying jobs and an expanding tax base.”

Others in attendance at the inauguration included former mayors, Regional councillor Tim Whalen, Niagara Regional Police Service chief Bryan MacCulloch, members of city staff, and friends and family of the elected councillors.
Members of city staff expressed excitement and anticipation for working with a new council during the upcoming term.
“On behalf of City staff, I want to extend a warm welcome to our new City Council. I look forward to working collaboratively to continue to move the city forward, ensuring we are growing in a sustainable manner and providing the best in-class service to our community,” said Manoj Dilwaria, Thorold chief administrative officer.
The first meeting of this term of council has been scheduled for Dec. 6, 2022.
